How to Use God’s Things

Determining ownership of things is very important to us. One of the first words we say as toddlers is “mine.” If you hold up a basketball in the middle of a playground full of children playing with other toys and ask whose it is, there will be no doubt that it will be claimed be someone. As adults, we also are obsessed with who owns what – whether we’re talking about money or property, inventions, ideas, etc.

In the Bible, God unveils a revolutionary concept. Nothing we are, have, or do is ours. All of it is God’s – and we are just taking care of it for a short amount of time. This is a tough concept to get our heads around, but once we grasp it it makes us both selfless and wise, as we use everything we have and are for the good of God and others.
